it is almost 230am and thanks to a cup of chai tea.. i am up working on my final research paper (which is, might i add, sort of kicking me in the booty). i find that i write better at night when its quiet and the rest of the world is sleeping.. but the downfall is that the world (or at least in california) is sleeping during the hours that my body wants to be sleeping too, so not much work ends up getting done after all.

i typically turn off my wireless so that i dont get distracted by the internet, but if i forget, this is what happens: i just spent the past 20 minutes reading the news online (so depressing..) and playing around with........... google maps. sometimes i like to map out places id like to go and see how long it would take me to get there. like from madrid, spain to switzerland, it would take 15 hours by car.. and 8 DAYS by foot!!!! that is, if youre a fast swimmer since you have to go through the ocean a little.... isnt that crazy? i gasped out loud.

anyway, happy day after thanksgiving. much to be thankful for this year (though i wish i was more thankful everyday and not just on thanksgiving). sounds trivial, but im also very thankful that it rained this week. nothing more soothing than the sound of raindrops.. or more refreshing than the smell of the world the morning after a rainfall :)

currently, i am munching on some baby carrots and sugar snap peas (my new favorite addiction!) with both feet propped up on a chair that we "permanently borrowed" (most commonly known as stealing) from a department downstairs. for some reason, i get more work done when im working late---after everyone is gone and the office is quiet and distraction-free. mm..

one neat thing that i just discovered: laundry hampers WITH WHEELS!! ive been dreading doing laundry since my move because i have to carry my laundry basket to the laundry room across the pacific ocean (translation: down the hall. but a really long hall. plus, im lazy.)

so yesterday, i was at ikea with a friend and he was looking at laundry hampers and..... there it was. laundry on wheels! im pretty sure this isnt really news to anyone else and i think these wheelie hampers have been around for a while (and ive probably seen them but just dont remember).. but in that moment, i felt like i had just discovered gold. even though its really just a basket with plastic wheels. but now i am enjoying the excitement that comes with wheeling my laundry down the hall :)

on a random note, did you know that they have sugar daddys, sugar babies, and....... SUGAR MAMAS?!! i found this out about a month ago and.. i have since been super fascinated by the sugar family. i shall post a picture when i get back home. it is quite excellent.

edit---introducing the sugar family...
